Southwater Sports Club has been in existence for over 128 years and provides an essential facility for the whole Southwater community. It started as a Tin shed for Cricketers to get changed in, and in 1963 the shed was demolished and the Cricketers erected a new wooden structure with two changing rooms and a small Bar. In 1975 a further extension was added providing two more changing rooms. In the early 80's local Landlady May Brown became Head Barmaid and ran the Club for many years really moving it forward. In 1982 The Cricket Club amalgamated with Southwater Football Club and the name changed to Sothwater Sports Club. In 1985 the Club was once again demolished by it's members and a new bigger building was constructed with further extensions being added in the 80s and 90s.
This year we also have on site a Multi-use games area (MUGA) Pitch and a brand new Tennis section.
We also have 4 large TV screens showing sport from all terrestrial channels, Sky and BT Sport.

Members of Southwater Sports Club benefit from discounted bar prices, you will be asked to present your membership card at the bar each time your order. (Anyone found to be passing their membership card to a non-member may have their membership revoked)
To join please fill in a membership form and return to a member of the bar team or committee.
Memberships can only be paid for in person at the bar, we are not able to take online payments. (please do not send membership forms or payments by post)
The membership year runs from 1st June to 31st May each year.
Guests must be signed in by a member and pay the guest fee of £1. Guests will be charged non-member bar prices.
Cricket has been played in the village since 1890 and we celebrated our 125th anniversary during 2015.
We are an ECB Clubmark accredited club that has enjoyed continuous success and growth over the last few years.
We run three league teams competing in the Sussex Cricket League, with the 1st XI in Division 5 West.
We also run Sunday friendly teams to ensure that we provide as much opportunity for all cricketers to get a game every week.
We offer junior cricket for boys and girls from the age of 6 with clear progression into our senior teams.
In 2019 we won the Sussex Coaching Club of the Year Award in recognition of the opportunities we are providing, success on the pitch (winners of several colts leagues) quality of qualified coaching being delivered, facilities, and the growth of the colts section with boys, girls and mixed teams across the age levels.We are always on the lookout for volunteers especially with scoring or umpiring, if you are interested then full training will be given.

Football has been played here since 1958. Over the last 60 years the team has evolved and grown somewhat and moved with the changes that have happened within football. Both the Senior and Junior sections have enjoyed continued success and growth over this time.
We are a FA Chartered Standard club with a Junior section having teams from U8’s to U16’s and a Senior section with three Saturday teams and two Sunday teams one of which is a Veterans team.
We endeavour to give the opportunity for football to be played whatever your age. As much as we love our current squads, we are always looking to recruit additional players for all our junior age groups & senior teams.
We are also especially keen if you would be interested in sponsorship packages & volunteering to help with the running and administration of the club.

Southwater Tennis Club has a new home as Southwater Sports Club has relocated after 128 years.
The Tennis club has 2 new macadam courts and will share a state of the art two storey clubhouse with cricket and football. It has indoor areas for darts, billiards and pool and there are four large screens showing TV sport.
The new clubhouse will be open seven days a week with excellent fully licensed bar and the kitchen operating from Wednesdays to Sundays with a varied menu.
There is a range of memberships available and members of Southwater Sports Club can book a court for a fee. You can join and book a court by CLICKING HERE Coaching will be available to players of all ages and abilities and run experienced Hawk-i team. We currently have 2 junior weekend classes (Saturday at 11.00 and Sunday at 9.30) and a midweek adults beginner session (Wednesday mornings at 10.00). The programme will continue to evolve over forthcoming year.
Our plans for 2020 will be for a regular social session to be run plus some after school junior squads and more adult coaching groups.

The Club has a healthy indoor sports section for Darts, Pool and Bar billiards and we have occasional ‘Pentathlons’ which is a competition for 5 indoor sports – Shuv ha’ penny, Crib, Bar skittles, Darts and Pool (keeping the old games alive!). The Club is also the venue for Sussex darts with large competitions held periodically, so if you fancy a go at any of this then please contact Pete Botting at kcpbotting@btinternet.com.
